Yesterday concluded the official period of mourning by The Royal Family following the death of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. With it, Buckingham Palace has released the official cypher for the new reign of His Majesty The King. The monogram is a visual identity that will be used by government departments, on state papers and on Royal Post. Personally chosen by the King from several designs produced by the College of Arms, it combines his initial "C" with an "R" for "Rex" - Latin for King. (If you watched "The Crown," Rex is the male version of "Regina," Latin for Queen, which is what HM Queen Mary referred to in her letter when she wrote the new Queen and said she was now "Eliazabeth Regina.") The cypher replaces the EIIR cypher used by the government for the last 70 years.
