Remembering my Dad, my Hero

I pause to remember my Dad, who we lost 24 years ago today at the age of 79. The photo on the left was taken in Honolulu in early 1942, while we were still recovering from the brutal attack on Dec 7th. The image on the right, is the certificate all servicemembers received from their Commander-in-Chief following "the total defeat of the enemy." As a boy, my Dad told me stories of how he witnessed the impact of the Marshall Plan in post-war Europe. While I wish he were still alive to see where my journey has led - I take these memories and his legacy with me and will always strive to be, as President Truman wrote, an "example in further exalting our country in peace."
